Business Wire, Sept 26, 2006

Company to demonstrate enterprise-class architecture innovations in virtualization and the power that its relationship with Intel brings to customers

LOWELL, Mass. -- Virtual Iron Software (www.virtualiron.com), a provider of software solutions for creating and managing virtual infrastructure in the data center, will demonstrate key features of its virtualization and policy-based management solution at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Fall 2006. Virtual Iron offers the first and only software solution to take full advantage of new hardware-assisted virtualization from Intel.

     Date(s): Tuesday, September 26 - Thursday, September 28
     Location: Moscone Convention Center
     Booth: 603

The demonstration will present the key features of the Virtual Iron platform and solutions which take full advantage of Intel[R] VT Virtualization Technology to deliver a cost effective alternative to VMWare's proprietary virtualization offering for unmodified Linux and Windows operating systems. Enterprises use the software to address a number of data center initiatives including:

* Server Consolidation - Increase hardware utilization while reducing capital expenditures

* Rapid Provisioning - Minimize operational expenditures

* High Availability - Recover from failures, quickly, reliably and cost-effectively

* Capacity Management - For Operational efficiency

* Policy-based Automation - Reduce manual intervention, human errors and time and labor costs while automating data center operations using LiveMigrate[TM]

In addition, Virtual Iron Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Grandinetti will lead a tutorial session which will examine virtualization techniques, the impact of new hardware-assisted virtualization technologies and how virtualization is being used to create more flexible infrastructure and deliver computing capacity on demand.

     Date: Thursday, September 28
     Time: 8:00 a.m. PST
Location: Moscone Center West, Room 2011

Mr. Grandinetti will also lead two roundtable discussions around the business level benefits and market direction for virtualization as part of Intel's CXO Roundtable series:

Roundtable 1
     Date: Tuesday, September 26
     Time: 12:30 -1:45 p.m. PST

     Time: 1:45 - 3 p.m. PST
Location: Moscone Center West, Room 3018

The software provides support for unmodified 32- and 64 - bit Linux and Windows operating systems and applications, as well as support for SMP and very large memory (96GB). It is purpose-built for production-class workloads and supports hundreds of physical servers and thousands of virtual servers. The software automates many time-intensive manual tasks such as provisioning new servers and moving capacity to handle dynamic workloads. It also monitors physical systems and automatically responds to availability issues. These capabilities enable users to streamline data center management while dramatically reducing capital and operating expenses.
