The Ground Water Protection Council: EPA to Release Guidance on Underground Injection of Carbon Dioxide

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will release guidance on the underground injection of carbon dioxide at the annual meeting of The Ground Water Protection Council in Miami, Fla., on Monday, October 2, 2006.

The guidance is expected to inform states of the EPA's interim plans for regulating the practice of isolating carbon dioxide underground as a means of decreasing the atmospheric release of this greenhouse gas.

The Ground Water Protection Council is a national association of state ground water and underground injection control agencies whose mission is to promote the protection and conservation of ground water resources.
