Analyst Report Names Opsware as Fastest Growing Server Provisioning Software Vendor in 2005

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- In a recent market report (1) analyst firm IDC identified Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ:OPSW) as the fastest growing of the leading vendors in the worldwide server provisioning software market for the period 2004-2005, in terms of software revenue. According to IDC, the server provisioning software market is centered on the deployment, configuration, and management of server system and application software. Opsware was identified as number one in year-to-year revenue growth in this market at 64.9%, and number two in market share, with 22% in 2005.
Key market drivers include compliance reporting, change and configuration management, data center consolidation and the opportunity to lower IT costs through process standardization.
"IT departments are increasingly turning to data center automation solutions for tasks such as server provisioning and configuration management as a key part of their strategy to reduce costs and deal with labor shortages," according to Stephen Elliot, research manager, enterprise systems management software, IDC.
In the category of server provisioning software, IDC includes configuration management, patch software management and change audit/reporting applications.
