Former eMachines Owner Reviews Options for Gateway, Inc. Transaction

LOS ANGELES -- Mr. Lap Shun (John) Hui, owner of Joui International and the former owner of eMachines, announced today that he is reviewing his options in connection with Gateway, Inc.'s (NYSE: GTW) recent announcement that its Board of Directors had rejected his offer to purchase Gateway's retail operations for $450 million.
"I am disappointed that Gateway's Board made a decision to reject the offer without engaging in any discussions with me to either refine the terms of my proposal for the purchase of Gateway's retail operations or to discuss alternative acquisition proposals," Mr. Hui stated.
