Endeca Selected by BT Group as New Search and Information Access Software Standard
Business Wire, April 10, 2007
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & LONDON -- Endeca Technologies, Inc., an enterprise information access software company, today announced that BT Group (LSE:BT-A.L.), one of the world's leading providers of communications solutions and services, has selected the Endeca Information Access Platform (IAP) as its new information access standard. BT Group will use the Endeca IAP to upgrade its enterprise and Web applications with Endeca's advanced search and information access capabilities, and will also leverage the Endeca platform to power a new generation of Web and enterprise solutions for customers, partners and employees.
Mike Galvin, Director of Portfolio Infrastructure for BT Group, explains, "The investment in Endeca as a search and information access capability provides another success in BT's strategy to standardize capabilities that support customer services and product development. We will spend the next quarter building the core platform, which will be followed by a pan BT roll out across a number of applications. BT has made a critical decision to standardize this capability, providing an exciting opportunity for both companies to create search and information access services to support BT's customers."
The Endeca Information Access Platform gives organizations new ways to unite disparate data and content, while offering users new abilities to explore, find, analyze and act on this information. The technology is an integral component of popular web offerings (online publishing, directories and classifieds, e-commerce, online travel and corporate websites) and next generation enterprise solutions (eDiscovery, compliance, customer relationship management, human capital management, knowledge management, strategic sourcing, self-serve business intelligence).
"It became clear early on that BT Group was looking to do much more than just overhaul the search feature on their Web and enterprise applications. They shared a vision to design entirely new kinds of user experiences aimed at helping people to explore and discover information," said Steve Papa, chief executive officer of Endeca. "This strategic engagement will serve as a catalyst for growth for both businesses, and we look forward to working with BT to deliver the next generation of information access solutions for their customers and employees."
