iBasis Names VP of Business Development and Strategy

BURLINGTON, Mass. -- iBasis, Inc. (NASDAQ: IBAS), the global VoIP company, today announced that it has named Jayesh Patel to the new position of Vice President, Business Development and Strategy. Patel is responsible for the development of partnerships, alliances, eco-systems and overall corporate strategy.
"Jayesh brings years of experience driving business technology and strategy for fast-growth companies and has particular experience in developments that are driving the next generation of mobile services," said Ofer Gneezy, president and CEO of iBasis. Prior to joining iBasis, Patel held senior executive positions at leading communications technology companies including Xylogics, Bay Networks, and Newbridge Networks. Most recently, he was vice president and general manager of Mobile Packet Data Solutions for Alcatel, Inc. Patel joined Alcatel in 2004 following that company's acquisition of WaterCove Networks, the mobile data infrastructure solutions company Patel founded in 2003. Patel holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Sussex University in England.
