PHOENIX & SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Avnet Electronics Marketing (NYSE:AVT) and Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) kicked off the Americas leg of its 90-city global seminar series tour today in Salt Lake City. X-Fest, a series of technical seminars offering practical, how-to training around system level design for FPGA, DSP and embedded systems designers, runs worldwide through July 13 in locations throughout Europe, Asia, Japan and North America. > To date, nearly 1400 people have registered to attend X-Fest in North America, while more than 500 attended the first two seminars in China. X-Fest one-day seminars will offer several 90-minute training courses for attendees to choose from, designed to provide specialized training on design solutions for FPGA circuitry and the components surrounding FPGAs. Attendees will also have access to partner demonstration exhibits (varies by city) sponsored by Agilent Technologies, Analog Devices, Eridon, Intel Flash Memory Group, Lauterbach, LynuxWorks, Micron, Murata, National Semiconductor, NEC Electronics, Samtec, Sharp Microelectronics, Synplicity, Texas Instruments and The MathWorks, which offer a unique opportunity to explore some of the latest design solutions. Xilinx will showcase multiple demonstrations and development platforms, including solutions and development boards leveraging its low-cost Spartan[TM]-3A FPGA devices, low-power CoolRunner[TM]-II CPLD devices and the latest 65nm Virtex[TM]-5 SXT FPGA devices optimized for high-performance digital signal processing."With the kick-off last week in Beijing and Shanghai, and today in North America, X-Fest is on a roll," said Tim Barber, vice president of global Xilinx marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing. Attendees will leave X-Fest armed with the tools and practical knowledge necessary to tackle system level design for new and existing design challenges for embedded processing, DSP, power supplies, memory interfaces and analog front ends.
