Sypherlink Taps DHS and Public Safety Experts To Lead New National Security Practice
Business Wire, April 11, 2007
DUBLIN, Ohio -- Sypherlink, the leading provider of automated data mapping software, has established a National Security Practice to support federal, state and local information sharing and intelligence initiatives. The practice builds on Sypherlink's already established presence, customer and partner base in the integrated justice market and is aimed to more tightly align Sypherlink's patented information management capabilities with the unique requirements supporting the government's most critical national security efforts.
Former senior U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official Matt Mayer serves as practice director, responsible for overseeing market strategy and product positioning.
Criminal justice and public safety information expert Rehan Chawdry serves as practice leader, charged with ensuring that the firm's solution offering fully supports the new and evolving national data sharing standards, including the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM).
Sypherlink CEO James Paat said Mayer joins Sypherlink with more than 10 years' experience in homeland security, government regulation and policy development. "While Matt was at DHS, he served as a senior advisor to Secretary Michael Chertoff and Deputy Secretary Michael Jackson on the agency's day-to-day policy and operational issues, including information sharing and intelligence efforts," he explained.
Mayer, who also previously served as director of Homeland Security for Lockheed Martin [NYSE:LMT], said he came onboard because "Sypherlink offers a unique solution that fills a large need in the market today - the ability to enable law enforcement agencies at all levels to overcome the challenges surrounding information sharing and intelligence efforts." He continued, "Sypherlink helps to more quickly find the proverbial needle in the haystack before it's too late."
Practice Leader Rehan Chawdry, explains Paat, has nearly a decade of experience in public safety and criminal justice, with an intimate understanding of the technology, systems and data-sharing standards involved. Most recently, he said, Chawdry served as manager of Operations & Software Development for Commsys, a leading public safety systems integration firm. While with Commsys, "Rehan became a subject matter expert in the software, systems and operations which enable local and state law enforcement agencies to share data among systems and with their state agencies," said Paat.
"Our ability to attract such talented and experienced individuals speaks to both the opportunity within - and the value we provide to - the national security market," continued Paat. "Matt and Rehan have each proven their ability to successfully serve this market and support Sypherlink's position as a leading player."
