Captovation Announces Direct Integration Support between Captovation Capture and Microsoft SharePoint 2007
Business Wire, April 17, 2007
MINNEAPOLIS -- Captovation, a developer of document and check capture software, announces integration support between its Captovation([R]) Capture product suite and Microsoft([R]) SharePoint 2007. When implemented together, Captovation Capture and Microsoft SharePoint 2007 provide a complete document management system providing clients with the ability to capture, index and archive electronic and paper-based content.
Microsoft SharePoint provides a platform for user collaboration and information sharing, as well as the capabilities to manage content and critical business processes within an organization. SharePoint has typically been used for the purposes of project management, however; SharePoint 2007's improved content and document management functionality better suit the needs of paper-intensive organizations. This includes functional improvements in workflow, records management, and tracking user access to documents.
The SharePoint 2007 integration is accomplished through a Captovation Capture Commit Driver, which utilizes Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services through Web Services. Administrators first configure a SharePoint commit profile in Capture Administration and then map Captovation Capture data fields to corresponding SharePoint metadata fields. After documents have been scanned, indexed, and committed within Captovation Capture, the commit driver automatically creates a document record and uploads the documents and data to SharePoint 2007.
SharePoint users can utilize either Captovation Scan (production level scanning), Captovation Web Capture (browser-based scanning and indexing), or Captovation Check Capture (check image and MICR capture) to capture their documents. Index data can then be applied with Captovation Index before the images are committed to SharePoint.
Additional features of this integration include:
* Commit to document libraries without having to physically move files into their respective libraries.
* Offers the ability and flexibility of renaming files at the point of committal within SharePoint by mapping it to one or more fields.
* Dynamically place documents into a SharePoint hierarchy of folders and subfolders, regardless of whether or not the folder exists. If the folder does not exist, Microsoft SharePoint automatically creates the folder.
"SharePoint 2007 offers organizations an affordable method to manage documents," said Ken Peterka, Captovation's President and CEO. "With Captovation Capture, SharePoint users can efficiently digitize and index paper documents into SharePoint."
