Embarcadero Technologies Introduces Web-Based Reporting for Database Auditing
Business Wire, April 17, 2007
New Functionality Helps Companies Expand Insight into Database Usage, Security and Privacy Information
SAN FRANCISCO -- Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: EMBT) today introduced DSAuditor 4.1, a professional-grade database auditing tool that enables organizations to identify performance issues, secure critical data, ensure data privacy and enable regulatory compliance by monitoring all database activity. The latest version now includes web-based reporting that makes it easier to access audit information and critical reports in real-time, while maintaining optimal security and privacy.
DSAuditor 4.1 now allows database administrators to access database audit information from anywhere they can connect to their intranet. The new web interface includes performance, security and compliance expertise within pre-built dashboard views. The tool is fully customizable by each user and because it is built on portlet technology, key database statistics can be displayed within other web-based applications as authorized.
"With more than a thousand active users of our data warehouse, we need detailed usage information to set priorities for continual change and enhancements. DSAuditor provides us with the opportunity to get this insight," said Michael Wonderlich, technical architect, University of Illinois. "This database tool collects the usage information we need to improve performance for our users, monitor access from a security perspective, and ensure that we are not allocating time and resources to processing tables that are rarely used."
The highly scalable architecture built into DSAuditor 4.1 offers even greater flexibility and can be optimized for each customer's unique environment. The network-based database auditing solution also allows administrators to select their preferred hardware, operating system and database management system (DBMS) for processing and storing audit log data. This ensures DSAuditor 4.1, which monitors seven database platforms, fits easily into existing purchasing, security, access control and backup processes for a low total cost of ownership.
"DSAuditor 4.1 is all about flexibility. By having a solution that is not tied to a desktop client for viewing data or a network appliance for processing, an IT department can improve overall system performance as well as optimize performance for databases and mission-critical applications across the enterprise," said Greg Keller, vice president of product management, Embarcadero Technologies. "This contributes to better security and data privacy, and greater enterprise-wide efficiencies."
Pricing and Availability
DSAuditor 4.1 is now generally available worldwide. Introductory pricing in North America begins at $2,495 per monitored CPU. For more information, visit http://www.embarcadero.com/products/dsauditor/index.html.
