Arkados Names Grant Ogata EVP Worldwide Operations
Business Wire, April 18, 2007
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Arkados (OTC BB: AKDS), known as "the HomePlug[R] Applications Company," has named Grant Ogata, former Vice President of Global Sourcing and Product Development of RadioShack Corporation, as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations.
Ogata, age 51, has 28 years of experience in the consumer electronics industry. At RadioShack, Ogata was responsible for developing hundreds of innovative products, establishing key strategic partners and managing global sourcing and product development offices in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Fort Worth, Texas. Throughout the years, and through a six-year expatriate assignment in Asia, Ogata gained intricate knowledge and contacts with key consumer electronic manufacturers around the world.
Ogata began working with Arkados in a part-time capacity in September 2006 as Vice President of Strategic Business Development. He has been instrumental in beginning the transition of Arkados from a research and development company with solutions for distributing audio and video through power lines, to a commercial enterprise that provides these solutions to top tier companies globally.
"Grant's extensive industry knowledge and experience, his key contacts with top consumer electronic manufacturers, and his understanding of retail marketing strategies have been invaluable to Arkados. His insight will enable Arkados to continue to expand providing our unique solutions to companies focused on manufacturing or marketing products that distribute data, audio and video content throughout the whole house," said Oleg Logvinov, CEO of Arkados.
Ogata said, "For many years, I have been researching the market and the technologies available to distribute audio and video content reliably to every room in the home -- without running new cables. Arkados is the first company to deliver on those needs by providing complete design solutions that achieve reliable distribution of A/V content and that do not have the limitations of other wireless solutions.
"I'm fully convinced that the HomePlug specifications are superior technologies, and that the right companies are behind it to make it a global standard. With our strong engineering team and numerous patents on our intellectual property, I truly believe Arkados will become the leading solution provider in the connected home market."
In the powerline communications industry, Ogata has recently served as the Chairman of HomePlug Powerline Alliance's Command and Control Standard Working Group. The HomePlug Alliance is an open industry association (of which Arkados is a founding member) focused on the adoption and implementation of interoperable and standards-based powerline networks and products. Ogata has also served on the board of the Consumer Electronics Association's Home Networking & Information Technology division.
