DePaul's College of Law, Its Health Law and IP Programs, and the University's Part-Time MBA Program Earn U.S. News Rankings

CHICAGO -- Three DePaul University graduate programs and its College of Law have earned top rankings in U.S.News & World Report's annual guidebook, "America's Best Graduate Schools 2008," which hits newsstands April 2. The College of Law ranked among the top 100 law schools and DePaul's part-time MBA and health law programs both placed ninth in their respective categories. The intellectual property (IP) program at the College of Law ranked 13th.

DePaul's MBA program has landed a top-10 spot in the rankings a dozen times. Ray Whittington, dean of DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, said this "acknowledges DePaul's well-earned reputation for offering a high-quality, flexible MBA education that provides students with the practical knowledge they need to advance in their careers."

Designed for working professionals, the accredited MBA program offers 26 areas of study taught by a faculty of leading scholars and distinguished business professionals. Courses are available evenings, on weekends and on multiple campuses. The program enrolls about 1,700 students.

DePaul's law school was ranked 91st, which places it among the top 100 for the second consecutive year. The health law program's ninth place ranking was one place higher than last year. The survey also recognized the law school's student population as being among the country's most diverse.

Business and law specialty program rankings are based on ratings provided by educators at peer institutions. To determine the overall law school rankings, U.S. News surveyed the nation's 184 law schools that are accredited by the American Bar Association and rated them based on a weighted average of 12 measures. Also included in the calculations were the results of two surveys sent to law deans and selected faculty members from each school asking them to rate other law schools.
