Four New Certified SAP[R] xApps[TM] Improve Manufacturing and Business Application Information Flow

EDISON, N.J. -- SEAL Consulting, Inc. announced the availability of four SAP[R] xApps[TM] Certified - Powered by SAP NetWeaver[R] solutions. These composite applications - Mobile Inspections[R], Order-to-Ship Dashboard[R], Plant-to-Business Integration[R], and Paper MESh[R] - improve the flow of information between the manufacturing facilities and the enterprise's business applications.

SEAL's composite applications Mobile Inspections 1.0, Order-to-Ship Dashboard 1, Plant-to-Business Integration 1, and Paper MESh 1.0 run on the SAP NetWeaver platform and is built with the SAP Composite Application Framework (SAP CAF) tool, Release 7.0. These certifications were achieved by demonstrating that the solutions meet all of the technical and business criteria established by SAP for its SAP xApps Certified status.

"SEAL is pleased to extend our xApps product toolset to enable quick deployment of SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) based functionality that drives business process efficiency and speed," said Vaidy Iyer, SEAL Consulting, Inc., Practice Lead. "Combined with SEAL's customer focus and commitment, our expertise in SAP applications, which now includes these four new composite applications, provides the foundation for innovation and cost effective SAP-based applications."

Mobile Inspections facilitates plant maintenance and inspection for mobile workers using Tablet PC's and Blackberry devices. It speeds the workflow related to capturing a maintenance need, getting the repair completed, and returning the asset to production status. Hand writing recognition, mobile devices, SAP xMII, SAP Document Management System, and SAP ERP are integrated into seamless application that matches the business process and maintenance workflow.

Order-to-Ship Dashboard enhances visibility and workflow processes for the sales-to-delivery process in the high tech industry. Each step from order creation, through manufacturing steps and the final delivery to the customer is tracked and presented with a traffic light status. The composite application gathers the status information from the source system it resides in, whether SAP solutions or manufacturing systems, using SAP xMII.

Plant-to-Business Integration resolves this problem by providing a message guarantee between the enterprise and the plant using a combination of SAP xMII and SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (XI). An organization with remote plants may have network or bandwidth issues that hamper the flow of mission critical interfaces between the Plant/Shop-floor and the enterprise. SAP NetWeaver XI is implemented in a decentralized scenario and integrated to SAP xMII, which is integrated to all the other applications on the shop floor.

Paper MESh is similar to the Order-To-Ship Dashboard, but it is targeted to the paper industry. It utilizes SAP xMII to facilitate the flow of information between the enterprise SAP ERP and the manufacturing execution systems.
