Vocera Communications Appoints Howard Janzen and Giovanni Colella, M.D., to Board of Directors

Newly appointed members to bring additional expertise in business and healthcare IT to Board of Directors of Cupertino-based wireless communications company
CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Vocera Communications, Inc., a leading provider of wireless communications systems enabling instant voice communication among mobile workers, announced today the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. Howard Janzen, chief executive officer, One Communications, and Giovanni Colella, M.D., president and general manager, McKesson Personal Health Solutions, joined the Vocera Board of Directors effective April 24, 2007.

Howard Janzen, a 30-year veteran of the telecommunications and energy industries, is chief executive officer of One Communications, the largest privately-held competitive local telecommunications exchange carrier in the United States. Previously, Janzen served as president of Sprint Business Solutions, serving its $12 billion worldwide business customer base. Janzen also has received the 2001 Ovations Award from Telecom magazine and COMNET for completing a $7 billion, next-generation fiber network as chief executive officer of Williams Communication Group. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in metallurgical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
As a member of Vocera's Board of Directors, Giovanni Colella, M.D., president and general manager, McKesson Personal Health Solutions, will provide exceptional insight stemming from his years of experience in the healthcare IT industry. McKesson is the world's largest healthcare IT and automation supplier, with products in 65 percent of the United States health systems and is ranked as No. 16 on the FORTUNE 500.
Dr. Colella started his career as a practicing psychiatrist and served as the Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University. He was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, a partner at SAI, and a senior executive at Sapient, a leading publicly traded technology firm. More recently, Dr. Colella was president and chief executive officer of RelayHealth, which was recently sold to McKesson. Standing out in his class at the Universita Degli Studi di Milano in Italy, Dr. Colella graduated as valedictorian and earned his MBA from Columbia Business School where he was a Popper Scholar.
Janzen and Dr. Colella join a Board with extensive experience in the IT and venture capital industries. Also serving on the Board are Rob Shostak, founder and CTO, Vocera Communications; Hany Nada, co-founder, Granite Global Ventures; James Robinson IV, founder and general partner, RRE Ventures; Donald Wood, general partner, Vanguard Ventures; and Brian Ascher, general partner, Venrock Associates.
