dynaTrace's PurePath technology leads to enhanced scalability in Black Duck's protexIP, used by hundreds of customers as a fundamental part of their software development process
BOSTON -- dynaTrace Software today announced that Black Duck Software, the leading global provider of software compliance management solutions, has chosen dynaTrace Diagnostics 2.0 as its software monitoring and analysis solution.
"Black Duck is constantly evolving and optimizing its flagship product protexIP[TM] to improve customer performance, and dynaTrace Diagnostics PurePath technology is one innovation that provides benefit," said Andi Zink, director of engineering at Black Duck. "When protexIP analyzes the software licenses governing code to ensure compliance, Black Duck's scalable code analysis architecture uses multiple Java virtual machines, thus requiring the PurePath capabilities to gain insights that translate into further performance and scalability improvements."
dynaTrace software provides developers, QA testers, software architects and others with a rich graphical visualization of the full path of specific transactions - across multiple heterogeneous servers, and into various software containers to view the transaction down to individual method calls.
"We're pleased to work with as innovative a company as Black Duck," said Bernd Greifeneder, dynaTrace CEO. "Their mission is helping customers navigate the ever-increasing scale and complexity in today's distributed applications - which is fundamental to our vision at dynaTrace."
dynaTrace Diagnostics core is PurePath: technology enabling transaction tracking across various physical tiers. While tracking, PurePath measures the performance of individual servers, components and method borders (where problems occur), enhancing those findings with contextual information (why problems occur). The PurePath architecture ensures unprecedented scalability with negligible overhead on monitored servers.
"Black Duck customers rely on our solution, protexIP[TM], as a fundamental part of their software development process--customers complete protexIP scans for potential licensing issues throughout the process," Zink stated. "For that reason, our customers need maximum scalability in the products that we provide, since they integrate protexIP into their build systems that are processing gigabytes of code on a nightly basis. Black Duck's investment in dynaTrace will help to ensure we meet their needs."
About dynaTrace Software Inc.
dynaTrace software is the leader in application performance diagnostics for business-critical Java and .NET applications. dynaTrace's technology is the only solution that can trace a specific transaction path across multiple physical tiers and servers enabling customers to move beyond monitoring to "Take action"! In each application lifecycle stage - development, QA, staging, live operation - IT personnel now can use the same solution to see and understand where and why performance bottlenecks exist. With dynaTrace, enterprises gain better understanding of their applications' dynamic behavior, allowing them to reconstruct problems quickly, identify the root-cause and fix it.
