14(th) Annual Walt Disney World Festival Beginning Today Attracts Travel Company's Celebrity Gnome, Provides Exclusive Event Content on Travelocity
SOUTHLAKE, Texas -- Walt Disney World is rolling out the green carpet for a travel celebrity of sorts to visit the 14th annual Epcot[R] International Flower & Garden Festival that kicks off today. Since his highly publicized gnome-napping more than three years ago, Travelocity's beloved Roaming Gnome continues to jet from continent to continent, making his next stop the world of Disney.
Beginning today and lasting until June 3, 2007 at Epcot, the popular Flower & Garden Festival is known for more than its astounding blooms and larger-than-life topiaries. It is recognized around the world by gardening experts for a magnificent line-up of celebrity speakers, interactive seminars and one-of-a-kind exhibits and entertainment events.
Travelocity will feature the latest information on The Roaming Gnome's exploits at the 2007 Flower & Garden Festival via an exclusive Gnome online diary at www.travelocity.com/gnome. The site will offer photos, the latest "Gnome Quips" and links to a podcast of garden tips at iTunes. Flower & Garden Festival guests will also have the opportunity to purchase a Roaming Gnome for their own gardens at the Epcot Festival Center.
"We are thrilled to bring our beloved Roaming Gnome to one of Disney's most exciting events of the year," said Jeffrey Glueck, chief marketing officer, Travelocity. "We strive to give travelers the best travel experiences and this promises to be the most captivating Flower & Garden Festival yet."
"The Epcot Flower & Garden Festival gets bigger and better every year and it's not surprising that the Roaming Gnome has elected to get a first-hand look at this marvelous event during the Year of a Million Dreams," said Randy A. Garfield, executive vice president of worldwide sales and travel operations for Disney Destinations. "With millions of registered users, Travelocity and its Roaming Gnome offer a unique opportunity to spread the word about Epcot's one-of-a-kind spring event."
More information about the 14th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is available by visiting www.disneyworld.com/flower. The festival, including all gardening programs and exhibits, is included in regular Epcot admission.
