L-3 Appoints Charles F. Wald Vice President - International

NEW YORK -- L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that it has named General (Retired) Charles F. "Chuck" Wald to the position of Corporate Vice President - International. General Wald will be responsible for assisting L-3's operating groups in growing their international business base. General Wald assumes the role previously held by Ted McFarland who is taking on another assignment within L-3 as Vice President, Strategic Planning, Washington Operations and will report to General (Retired) Jimmie V. Adams, Senior Vice President of Washington Operations.

General Wald served as Deputy Commander, Headquarters U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), a position he held from 2002 until his retirement from the United States Air Force in July 2006. USEUCOM is responsible for all U.S. Forces operating across 91 countries in Europe, Africa, Russia, parts of Asia, the Middle East and most of the Atlantic Ocean. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Air and Space Operations at the Pentagon.

With over 35 years of service to the U.S. Air Force, General Wald is a command pilot with more than 3,600 flying hours and more than 430 combat hours. He has also received major military awards and decorations, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal. General Wald is a graduate of North Dakota State University and received a Masters degree in International Relations from Troy State University. He has also completed coursework at Harvard University and the National War College.
