Jeffrey A. Chaffkin to Lead Aetna Investor Relations
Business Wire, August 2, 2007
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Aetna (NYSE: AET) today announced that it has appointed Jeffrey A. Chaffkin, 47, to lead Aetna Investor Relations, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Joseph Zubretsky. Chaffkin will be vice president, responsible for maintaining Aetna's relationships with the investor and analyst communities.
Chaffkin joins Aetna from Charter Oak Partners, an equity hedge fund based in Westport, CT, where he was a general partner responsible for recommending health care investments. Before that, he was a managing director and U.S. pharmaceutical analyst at UBS in New York. Chaffkin was employed at Aetna from 1986 to 1996 in increasingly responsible positions, culminating in his appointment in 1994 as chief financial officer of the health business unit of Aetna Health Plans. Chaffkin begins his new position on Aug. 13, replacing David Entrekin, who in May announced his plans to leave the company.
"We're very pleased to have Jeff Chaffkin rejoin Aetna," said Zubretsky. "His experience as a finance executive with both sell- and buy-side experience, as well as ten years in finance and corporate planning at Aetna, should serve us well as we move into the next phase of the company's strategy. I'd also like to thank David Entrekin for his significant contributions during the past several years and wish him well in the future."
Chaffkin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1981 and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School in 1986.
