Fresh From the Oven of Summer: Momizza Pizza Opens in NE Portland

Business Wire, August 20, 2007

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Something fresh is cooking in Northeast Portland. A new, locally owned neighborhood pizzeria, Momizza Pizza has opened its doors and ovens to serve neighbors, friends and hungry Concordia University students.

"The aroma of our freshly baked hot garlic knots (Momizza's version of garlic breadsticks) is already attracting people to our new storefront," said Dave Gerhardt, manager of Momizza Pizza. "We've been perfecting our recipes for awhile now, and I'm really excited to finally open our doors to our neighbors."

Each delectable slice is concocted from an original recipe and made fresh to order. Momizza's veteran chef spent countless hours developing innovative recipes for interesting pies, such as the Momizza Pizza special: sweet Italian sausage, mushrooms, homemade meatballs, bell peppers, black olives, and pepperoni. Traditional pizza lovers -- have no fear! Momizza also offers a wide selection of delicious conventional toppings to build your own pizza, as well as salad and City Style hot dogs.

"Besides serving pizza, we really plan to become a part of the local community," said Rich Baek, co-owner of Momizza Pizza. "Portlanders will feel at home in our restaurant -- they'll recognize local artists' work on the walls and hear local music playing in the background."

Located in the Ainsworth neighborhood at 5949 NE 30th Avenue, Momizza Pizza looks forward to becoming a new community hot spot. The pizzeria, situated only blocks away from Concordia University, will offer specials to students and faculty with valid ID cards.

Momizza Pizza is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition to on-site dining, call in your to-go order before you arrive: 503-288-3900.
