Business Wire, August 28, 2007

SOLON, Ohio -- Swagelok Company, a major developer and provider of fluid system solutions, has named Sunniva R. Collins, Ph.D., to the newly created position of senior research fellow.

"As the company's first senior research fellow, Dr. Collins will be responsible for coordinating the academic and governmental research partnerships Swagelok is forming as the company grows in new and innovative ways," says Art Anton, Swagelok Company president and chief executive officer. "To begin, Dr. Collins will serve as the primary liaison between Swagelok, Case Western Reserve University and the U.S. Navy, the first customer to purchase the service of our breakthrough SAT12[TM] surface hardening process."

SAT12[TM] is a patented process for heat treating austenitic stainless steels that enables large-scale carbon absorption, dramatically improving hardness and other performance characteristics of the metal. A $5.5 million Third Frontier Grant from the Ohio Department of Development was awarded to Swagelok and Case Western Reserve University in December 2006 to market and commercialize Swagelok's SAT12[TM] process into a commercially viable, Ohio-based surface enhancement business.

Dr. Sunniva Collins joined Swagelok in 1995 as a research metallurgist and has served in engineering management positions including manager, standards and product regulatory compliance. Most recently Dr. Collins acted as the technical director of Swagelok Technology Services Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swagelok Company, directing research collaborations on the SAT12 process with academia and government research labs. She received her doctorate and master's degree in materials science and engineering from Case Western Reserve University and her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.

Headquartered in Solon, Ohio, U.S.A., Swagelok Company is a major developer and provider of fluid system solutions, including products, assemblies, and services for the research, instrumentation, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, power, petrochemical, alternative fuels, and semiconductor industries.
