Business Objects Announces the First and Most Advanced Integrated Enterprise Performance Management Roadmap
Business Wire, August 6, 2007
SAN JOSE, Calif. & PARIS -- Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ)(Euronext Paris ISIN code: FR0004026250 - BOB), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced its advanced new enterprise performance management (EPM) roadmap in the wake of the completion of its Cartesis acquisition. The company closed the Cartesis acquisition in June.
Business Objects EPM applications will now be fully integrated onto the BusinessObjects[TM] XI platform, and built around the Integrated Data Model (IDM) as the cornerstone for Enterprise Performance Management. Integrating the suite of products onto the IDM provides a complete closed-loop solution which allows managers to better control their business and optimize its performance. The IDM links all finance, compliance and performance management processes and data in a single solution, reducing overall management cycle times, the costs associated with compliance, and drives greater accuracy into the financial reporting and planning process.
Additionally, the integration will provide end users in finance and throughout an organization with the ability to leverage every aspect of the Business Objects suite of products, including the company's industry leading enterprise information management (EIM) and business intelligence capabilities, all from a single integrated platform.
"By issuing this product roadmap today, Business Objects has positioned itself to be a clear leader in the EPM space," said Mark Doll, senior vice president of enterprise performance management and global services for Business Objects. "This is an exciting and ambitious roadmap which leverages both the combined technologies and unrivaled domain expertise of Business Objects and Cartesis to deliver a truly unique value proposition to our customers. The vision we are creating and our ability to deliver on this sets Business Objects apart."
As part of this roadmap, the company has published a white paper which defines the Integrated Data Model clearly and outlines its benefits as the cornerstone for organizations looking to achieve maximum value from performance management applications. The white paper is accessible on the company's website at www.businessobjects.com.
"The ability to manage the performance management environment through the Integrated Data Model is critical for customers if they are to achieve the benefits they expect from performance management projects," continued Doll. "It's not just a matter of having a common user experience and look and feel, which every vendor can demonstrate today. Utilizing the Integrated Data Model gives our customers a competitive advantage in both implementing and using our applications. This streamlines not only the IT administration and back-end operations of the software, but rapidly increases the velocity of the information and visibility into key performance drivers of their business, and that sets Business Objects apart in the marketplace today."
Customer Validation and Support
As part of the product integration and strategy process, Business Objects initiated discussions with key customers as well as industry analysts to introduce the company's approach and strategy.
Chad Wambolt, finance process optimization manager at J. R. Simplot Company, stated that "this product strategy protects our current investment, while allowing us to take advantage of the new functionality now part of the Business Objects EPM offering."
Ray Nicholson, consolidations system manager, corporate financial reporting at Cargill, remarked that "the Business Objects product strategy will allow us to leverage both Cartesis Finance and Business Objects business intelligence deployment simultaneously so as to deliver trusted financial data to more users for management reporting." He added: "This will provide us with benefits we previously did not have. We appreciated the opportunity to give feedback on the roadmap and are excited about the direction of the Business Objects EPM strategy."
