Journal Register Company Newspapers Receive Advertising and Promotions Awards

YARDLEY, Pa. -- Journal Register Company (NYSE:JRC) today announced that 22 of its newspapers have received a total of 67 advertising and promotions awards by the Suburban Newspapers of America (SNA). Journal Register Company once again led the field this year with 16 first place awards as well as numerous second place, third place and honorable mentions.

Among the newspapers that took first place awards were the Litchfield County Times in New Milford, Connecticut for Best Homes Special Section; The Morning Sun in Mount Pleasant, Michigan for Best Classified Advertising Special Section and Best Promotion to Build Circulation; Royal Oak Daily Tribune in Royal Oak, Michigan for Best ROP Advertising Section; Daily Oakland Press in Pontiac, Michigan for Best General Interest Promotion Special Section; Montgomery Newspapers in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania for Best Public Service Promotion; and The Morning Journal in Lorain, Ohio for Best New Advertising Section, to name a few.

Journal Register Company's newspapers were chosen from a field of more than 1,000 entries to the 2007 SNA Advertising and Promotions Contest open to SNA members and non-members alike.

The 2007 Advertising and Promotions Contest judging was conducted by notable advertising executives from industry leaders like Vertis Media, Davis Advertising, Newspaper Association of America, and JWT Communications.

Winners will be recognized in the October issue of Editor & Publisher and also at the SNA Fall Publishers and Advertising Directors Conference, being held October 2-5, 2007 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
