Software Uses Unique Detection Method to Quickly Identify and Remove Malware

SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Sana Security today announced that Cox Communications is now offering its anti-malware software free of charge to Cox's high-speed Internet customers whose computers have become infected with bots, Trojans, and other malware. Based on the award-winning Primary Response SafeConnect product from Sana Security, Inc., the software is designed to protect customers' identities and their computer systems. It safeguards users from the increasingly damaging effects of bots, Trojans, rootkits, key loggers and other malicious threats before they can cause harm - long before the traditional signature-based products even recognize the threat.

"We pride ourselves on always being at the forefront of innovative security measures by implementing new and efficient ways to protect our customers and prevent the spread of malware infections," said Matt Carothers, senior security engineer at Cox Communications. "We believe our customers will benefit greatly from the earliest possible Trojan identification along with complete malware removal."

Sana Security's software offers a complete solution to detect and remove bots, which are the fastest-growing threats and the most difficult to spot. The FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice recently announced they had identified more than 1 million botnet crime victims in the U.S. as part of Operation Bot Roast, an ongoing and coordinated initiative to disrupt and dismantle these botnets.

With Primary Response SafeConnect, infected computers are automatically directed into a "walled garden," where customers are notified of the malware and given the option to download the product free of charge. The software will identify, classify and remove malware from their system. This two-step quarantine and cleanse process helps to protect customers before the bots, key loggers and other threats can steal critical personal identity and digital lifestyle data, and cleans their computer before re-connecting to the Internet.

"The ability to 'seek and destroy' even the most recent bots, viruses and other threats is absolutely critical when you realize that - according to the real-world customer data we've collected [?] seventy-six percent of these threats appear before a signature is even available," said Timothy Eades, senior vice president sales and marketing for Sana Security.

Primary Response SafeConnect utilizes Sana's Active Malware Defense Technology v.2 (Active MDT) to instantly detect both known and unknown malicious software and remove all traces of it by identifying and analyzing a combination of behaviors that indicate malware has infected the system. Once removal is complete, Primary Response SafeConnect continues to work and persistently protect PCs with no further action from the user.
