Business Wire, August 7, 2007

Former Trend Micro Executive to Lead Global Marketing Initiatives

BOSTON -- Sophos, a world leader in IT security and control, today announced the appointment of Dirk Christiansen as vice president of global marketing. Christiansen will drive the strategic development of marketing activities worldwide from the company's North American headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.

"As indicated by Sophos's rapid growth rate, the industry has responded remarkably well to our total endpoint security and control approach. We truly understand the threatscape's evolution, and have introduced sophisticated solutions like Network Access Control that empower organizations to effectively protect their networks," said Steve Munford, CEO of Sophos. "We're looking to Dirk, a highly seasoned professional in the security and networking market, to implement and elevate marketing strategies commensurate with our growth success."

Christiansen has more than 20 years experience setting strategies, driving global presence, launching marketing programs, and building worldwide sales channels in the security and networking industries. Prior to joining Sophos, he served as senior director of American marketing at Trend Micro and held key marketing roles at Intel and Novell.

"During the past few years, I've watched Sophos make tremendous headway in this competitive marketplace," said Dirk Christiansen, vice president of global marketing. "The company has emerged as a recognized challenger to McAfee and Symantec in corporate markets, powering growth at twice the industry rate. It's an exciting time for Sophos and I look forward to being part of the team."
