Salon City, Inc. Greenlights Production of Original Online Series
Business Wire, August 8, 2007
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Salon City, Inc. (OTC:SLON) announced today that it has officially started production on its first original web series. The as-yet unnamed series will bring to cyber life the glossy pages of Salon City, SCI's flagship magazine, and pair it with original complementary content. It will also serve as the anchor of SCI's new Internet programming vehicle, Salon City Network (SCN).
Matrixx, a leading branded entertainment production company, will create and produce each webisode. "We've been building toward this for a long time," said SCI president and CEO Steven Casciola. "It's incredibly exciting to bring our vision of Hollywood's higher calling of providing freedom and optimism - along with glamour, lifestyle, beauty and entertainment - to a wider global audience."
The show will be comprised of two-to-three-minute scripted episodes airing on SCN, and will feature many of the celebrities and personalities presently included in Salon City. "Providing original Internet programming puts SCI on the very forefront of new media," stated Van Vandegrift, executive producer for Matrixx. "This series will not only entertain and educate consumers, it will enable Salon City advertisers to better connect with them."
"Studies have shown that video ads within online TV programming is great for brand awareness," added Casciola. "When strategically integrated with our print capabilities, we believe the result will be an important new revenue opportunity for SCI."
