IRS Section H 990 Form Requires New Reporting on Charity and Bad Debt

SearchAmerica's compliance solution better identifies charity and bad debt for hospitals

MINNEAPOLIS -- SearchAmerica announces that it's industry leading Charity Advisor[TM] solution brings hospitals in compliance with relevant reporting requirements of the new Section H of the IRS 990 form.

Beginning in 2008 hospitals must report their bad debt and collection practices to the IRS through a new Section H on the 990 form. SearchAmerica's Charity Advisor is an automated solution that:

1. Screens patients at registration, properly qualifying charity accounts (as opposed to bad debt write off designation).

2. Provides an auditable "paper trail" documenting charity classification for each patient qualifying for a hospitals program.

"Hospitals are scrambling to comply with recent rules and regulations surrounding charity care. Our strategy all along has been to help hospitals properly identify accounts that can be classified as charity." says Daniel Johnson, President & CEO of SearchAmerica. "Clients using Charity Advisor successfully find those accounts that can be legitimately classified in the charity bucket."
