A.M. Best Withdraws Ratings of MetLife Life and Annuity Company of Connecticut Due to Legal Entity Merger

OLDWICK, N.J. -- A.M. Best Co. has withdrawn the financial strength rating of A (Superior) and issuer credit rating of "aa" of MetLife Life and Annuity Company of Connecticut (Hartford, CT) and assigned the company a category NR-5 (Not Formally Followed).
Effective December 7, 2007, MetLife Life and Annuity Company of Connecticut was merged into its parent company, MetLife Insurance Company of Connecticut (Hartford, CT), a wholly owned subsidiary of MetLife, Inc. (New York, NY) [NYSE:MET].
