Webmetrics Reports Google Maps Achieves 100 Percent Uptime over Past 90 Days
Business Wire, Dec 18, 2007
SAN DIEGO -- Webmetrics, the leading provider of web performance monitoring solutions, announced today that Google Maps APIs have maintained 100 percent uptime for the past 90 days. Using its GlobalWatch Monitoring platform, Webmetrics has monitored the response times and availability for Google Maps Service and Geocoder APIs, which have both achieved 100 percent uptime. By testing these APIs from its global, independent monitoring network, Webmetrics validates that Google Maps APIs have continuously powered interactive, map-based applications with uninterrupted speed and availability.
Google Maps provides directions, interactive maps, and global satellite/aerial imagery. The Google Maps API is a free beta service that allows developers to embed Google Maps functionality into any website that is free to consumers. Google Maps are commonly used to search for locations and addresses, find businesses in a particular area, obtain directions and check live traffic, and to create and view personalized maps.
Webmetrics tested Google Maps APIs every five minutes from its GlobalWatch Network from September 16th through December 16th. The standard Google Maps API enables searches against Google Maps for a specified address. The Google Maps Geocoder API provides geographic coordinates (i.e. latitude and longitude) for a specified address. Over the past 90 days, both of these APIs maintained 100 percent uptime. Individual performance results for each API are as follows:
Web Service < < Average Uptime Average Response Time Google Maps SearchAddress API < < 100% .45 sec Google Maps Geocoder API < < 100% .22 sec
Webmetrics' GlobalWatch for Ecosystems provides subscribers with real-time access to performance monitoring data and alerting for the most commonly used vendor APIs. These monitoring services help developers and businesses simplify the management of vendor-managed web services by measuring their response times externally, and in relation to defined performance objectives or SLAs. They also provide instant notification to users should web services fail to respond, or if response times exceed defined performance thresholds.
GlobalWatch for Ecosystems is now available for Google APIs, including Google Maps and Google Maps Enterprise, on a subscription basis.
