SURREY, British Columbia -- Chase Card Services Canada, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), was recently awarded the 2007 British Columbia Contact Centre Association (BC CCA) Community Service Award for its support for the United Way, Surrey Food Bank, public education and other programs.
This award acknowledges a company that demonstrates spirit and caring through its commitment to enriching the community and the lives of its employees with volunteer efforts, fundraising and other charitable initiatives.
To be considered for the award, Chase Card Services Canada was judged on a variety of factors, including community involvement, fundraising initiatives, volunteer efforts, employee participation, as well as letters of commendation from community organizations.
"We are very proud to be the winner of the BC CCA Community Spirit award," said Martyn Yarwood, senior operations manager, Chase Card Services. "Our more than 700 Surrey employees have gone above and beyond, and we are proud of the amazing work that they have done in the community this year. Community service is very important to Chase Card Services and to the people we employ, and our Surrey employees are the embodiment of this important value."
The British Columbia Contact Centre Association is a province-wide organization, which is made up of call centre users, employees, suppliers/vendors, consultants and government representatives. Its goal is to promote call centre growth by collaborating, networking and researching trends that impact the business.
A few community leaders provided context on Chase Card Services' community involvement:
The Surrey Food Bank noted: "The generous assistance of this company has provided food, service and hope for our low-income neighbours. Through their contributions to our 'Hamper to Your Home,' 'Power with Protein' and 'Tiny Bundles' programs, their support has made a difference in our community."
"Our organization would like to thank Chase Card Services for the generous donation of backpacks full of school supplies for our students. It is wonderful to see the corporate world supporting public education. All of society benefits when this happens," commented Bonaccord Elementary School.
"In 2006, Chase Card Services Canada received a Gold Award from United Way in recognition of their fundraising success and their Day of Caring project, when a group of volunteers went to Bridgeview Family Center in Whalley and spent the morning cleaning and painting the centre," said the United Way of Lower Mainland.
