BOZII SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH COORDINATE TECHNOLOGIES TO SUPPORT CUSTOMER CONNECTIVITY ON 2200 CHINESE WiFi HOTSPOTS
Agreement signed will enable BOZII customers and partners, such as UK WiMAX Operator FREEDOM4, to extend personal wireless broadband services into the Chinese market
Coordinate Technologies, an operator of neutral Wireless Broadband clearing house & interconnectivity platform and currently the central Hub for international Carriers roaming onto the WiFi Hotspots of China Mobile and China Netcom, announced today that it has finalized an agreement with BOZII, Europe's largest aggregator of Wi-Fi Roaming services.
BOZII's partner service providers and corporate customers will now have access to over 2200 WiFi hotspots managed by China Netcom and China Mobile, as well as future Chinese networks as they go live on the Coordinate platform. China Netcom operates 400 hotspots, primarily in Beijing, and is anticipated to add an additional 1000 Hotspots in advance of the 2008 Olympics. China Mobile operates 1836 hotspot locations, including all Starbucks locations, 43 airports over 1000 hotels. Both Operators plan significant capital investments in network deployment and upgrade over the next 12 months.
International Carriers are hungry to access the China market in order to extend wireless data services to the over 124 million foreign travelers in 2006, especially given the current lack of 3G alternative data services. Jason Liang, CEO of Coordinate Technologies, stated: "We are excited to be working with BOZII. They are a leading provider of mobile broadband services and their partnership with FREEDOM4 makes WiMAX to Wi-Fi convergence a reality for such users." FREEDOM4 has a national UK licence to deploy WiMAX services in the 3.6 GHz band.
Quentin Birchall, MD of BOZII, stated: "We are delighted to have made this agreement with Coordinate Technologies and look forward to developing the relationship in the future. Many of our customers are corporate travellers and journalists, and we are excited to be able to provide them with access to the Chinese market, especially in advance of the Beijing Olympics".
