NEW YORK -- Viewpoint (NASDAQ: VWPT), a leading Internet marketing technology company, today announced the launch of a new Mac[R] release of the Viewpoint Media Player (VMP). The VMP rich media experience is now truly cross-platform.

The latest release of the VMP introduces many new features to the Macintosh[R] platform such as SuperView, Viewpoint Experience Technology (VET) Script, VP7 Video and Texture Compositor. A key feature of this release, SuperView for Mac, enables the creation of interactive 3D content that can be viewed and controlled outside of the browser. This is the first step towards creation of Mac-compatible 3D widgets, which the company is also planning to bring to market.
This technology release adds powerful scripting support to the Mac player. Viewpoint Experience Technology (VET) Script is a VMP scripting language that provides a more robust and dynamic way of programming 3D and 2D such as Flash and SVG content within the VMP platform. The Texture Compositor is another key update for Mac that simplifies the content creation process by leveraging dynamic textures that utilize less memory and decrease the file size of the downloads. Other notable additions include the inclusion of the VP7 codec that enables full screen video, provides alpha masking for compelling video effects, and offers a significant reduction in the file size that maximizes cost savings without compromising the superb video quality.
"We are very happy to extend our VMP toolset to the Mac platform," said Patrick Vogt, CEO of Viewpoint. "We will continue to enhance our technology to make the use of VMP and 3D integration an essential part of Premium Rich Media creation. We believe in the approach that Apple is taking in the marketplace, and that elegant design and high end visualization are the keys to creative innovation. We are pleased to introduce a valuable 3D product suite that will fully support Mac creative users with robust 3D content development, photorealistic visualization and other interactive features."
