BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics' New Vivarium Set to Enhance Company Research
Business Wire, Dec 3, 2007
NEW YORK & PETACH TIKVAH, Israel -- BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:BCLI), a leading developer of adult stem cell technologies and therapeutics, announces the constructing of its new vivarium, an animal research facility, located at BrainStorm's headquarters in Petach-Tikva, Israel.
BrainStorm is working enthusiastically on developing a new treatment for Parkinson's and ALS diseases. The vivarium will allow Brainstorm to conduct the pre-clinical experiments in-house, including those required by the FDA, thus moving the Company's research more rapidly towards an FDA Pre-IND submission.
"The addition of this vivarium is a significant step for BrainStorm, this will, with G-Ds' help, accelerate our preclinical studies and enhance the process of a Pre-IND submission to the FDA," said Chaim Lebovits, BrainStorm's President. "The vivarium will allow us to conduct several studies in parallel, which will bring us closer to approval of BrainStorm's life-saving technology within the general marketplace."
The vivarium is built according to highest standards that follow the National Institute of Health's guidelines. Because the proper management of laboratory animals is essential to the animals' welfare and the validity of the research data, the animals will be maintained in accordance with the National Research Council guidelines. The vivarium constructed as a clean room to preserve the purity of BrainStorm cells. Once completed, BrainStorm's scientists will use state of the art equipment, to evaluate the beneficial effects of the Company's proprietary stem-cell treatment in-vivo.
The facilities will be managed by a certified Veterinarian. All of the employees engaged in these facilities have been suitably trained and are qualified to ensure that the animals receive the proper care and humane treatment. Brainstorm's animal research center will obtain the required certifications both for the facility as well as for the animal experiments from the Israeli Committee for Animal Research.
About BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics Inc.
BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics Inc. is an emerging company developing adult stem cell therapeutic products, derived from autologous (self) bone marrow cells, for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The Company's initial focus is on Parkinson's disease, although its technology has promise for treating several others diseases including MS, ALS, Huntington's disease and stroke.
