FoodNetwork.com Leads All Food-Related Web Sites In Thanksgiving Traffic

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- No matter how you slice it, FoodNetwork.com was the No. 1 recipe site in Nielsen Online's Food & Cooking category for the important Thanksgiving holiday week of Nov. 19-25, 2007. (http://www.foodnetwork.com)

FoodNetwork.com topped 5.2 million unique users during the week. The site also delivered a total of more than 77 million page views for the week, an increase of more than 29 million over the nearest competitor. FoodNetwork.com also led the category in pages per user, total minutes and total session metrics for Thanksgiving week.

The fast growing user-generated recipe site Recipezaar.com, which was acquired by Scripps in July 2007, also had a crowded table for the Thanksgiving holiday. The site had a unique audience of more than 1.6 million for the week according to Nielsen Online. Nielsen Online reports that together FoodNetwork.com and Recipezaar.com attracted 9.7 million total visits, and more than 6.4 million unique users, nearly one-quarter (24 percent) of the total online food-related audience during the Thanksgiving week.

Recipezaar.com users found recipes that everyday experts recommend for the holidays as well as a live forum to ask advice from others if they needed assistance or just wanted to chat."
