VAN NUYS, Calif. -- The Fritz B. Burns Foundation recently awarded a $1 million grant to Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) to design and upgrade operating rooms. The grant will fund the beginning of a nine-phase renovation project, which will transform Valley Presbyterian Hospital's operating rooms into state-of-the-art surgery suites.

"The advanced surgical room upgrades are part of Valley Presbyterian Hospital's ongoing commitment to bring innovative medical technology to the hospital for the benefit of our patients," said Albert L. Greene, President and Chief Executive Officer at Valley Presbyterian Hospital. "So many good things are happening at Valley Presbyterian Hospital thanks to our staff and our generous giving community. The Fritz B. Burns Foundation has been particularly generous to VPH in helping us provide the infrastructure and technology needed to be the premier healthcare provider in the San Fernando Valley."

Valley Presbyterian Hospital's Surgical Services Department consists of 10 operating rooms, including: a dedicated room for cardiac surgery; a dedicated room for urology procedures; three rooms for total joint replacement; five general rooms for various surgeries such as ear, nose and throat, cesarean-sections, and oncology.

This grant is the latest in a series of generous grants from the Fritz B. Burns Foundation, whose long and fruitful partnership with VPH began more than 25 years ago. The Fritz B. Burns Foundation was founded by the late philanthropist Fritz B. Burns in 1955. The Foundation emphasizes areas of funding established by Mr. Burns during his lifetime, including education, arts and humanities, civic and public affairs, health, religion, and social services.
