Turkcell Awarded "Best Broadcast Commercial" in the GSM Association's Global Mobile Awards 2007 for its Commercial "Turkcell-im geldi s?k?nt? bitti" (Turkcell-im's here, boredom's gone)
ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Turkcell (NYSE:TKC) (ISE: TCELL), Turkey's leading mobile operator, announced today that it received the "Best Broadcast Commercial" award for its commercial entitled "Turkcell-im geldi s?k?nt? bitti" (Turkcell-im's here, boredom's gone) in the Global Mobile Awards 2007 competition held on 13 February by the GSM Association, which represents the world's GSM industry in commercial and strategic matters.
Speaking at the award ceremony held at the National Palace in Barcelona as a part of the 3GSM World Congress, Turkcell CEO Sureyya Ciliv said, "This award is the outcome of teamwork. It's going to be a driving force that will carry us over to greater accomplishments. We're greatly happy to receive this award from the GSM industry's leading organization."
The 2007 Global Mobile Awards judges described Turkcell's award-winning broadcast commercial as "a clever, memorable and staggeringly successful campaign." Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association, said: "Achieving success in the global mobile industry requires a combination of innovation, expertise, tenacity and confidence - but the key ingredient is a knowledge of what the market needs to move forward the new mobile era. In addition to its award in the "Best Broadcast Commercial" category, Turkcell was also a finalist in the Global Mobile Awards 2007 in the "Best Service Delivery Platform" category with the "Turkcell SDPA," and in the "Best Billing or Customer Care Solution" category with the "Tariff Recommendation." Awards were given as a result of an evaluation made by professionals in the mobile market.
The GSM Association represents approximately 700 GSM operators with more than two billion subscribers in some 215 countries across the world. One of the GSMA's eleven rotating members, Turkcell is represented on the GSM Association's Board of Directors by Muzaffer Akpynar. The member operators on the 23-seat Board of Directors are identified on the basis of their subscriber population - the operators having the largest number of subscribers in the world make the board.
