CDW Named Among Best Corporate Citizens by CRO Magazine
Business Wire, Feb 14, 2007
VERNON HILLS, Ill. -- CDW Corporation (NASDAQ: CDWC), a leading provider of technology products and services to businesses, government and education, has been named to CRO Magazine's list of "100 Best Corporate Citizens."
CDW is ranked No. 64 on the list, which identifies companies that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders well and embrace higher standards with responsible practices on environmental and social issues. Stakeholder categories include shareholders, community, governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights and product quality. The list is drawn from more than 1,100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies.
"Being named to the list this year is reflective of our corporate culture that is about more than just making financial contributions to community organizations," said John A. Edwardson, CDW chairman and CEO. "Whether we are assisting our customers during a crisis or as they expand their enterprises, we understand their needs and want to personally empower them to realize their full potential."
CDW responded to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina with a commitment to serving citizens of the Gulf Coast region. It created fund and food drives, provided volunteer efforts, and donated technology equipment resulting in contributions of more than $1.8 million in cash, supplies and technology.
CDW also worked with American Red Cross, America's Second Harvest, Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army through its coworker fund drives for hurricane relief. CDW offered a four to one match on coworkers' contributions that resulted in a $623,000 donation to these organizations.
One of CDW's technology contributions in 2006 resulted in more than $119,000 in computers donated to the families of U.S. service men and women through a partnership with Operation Homelink[TM]. The initiative helps connect families to service members deployed overseas.
In addition to financial contributions, CDW partnered with American Red Cross of Greater Chicago through its "Ready When the Time Comes" program, which trained over 100 CDW coworkers on local emergency response initiatives.
The 100 Best Corporate Citizens list uses data from Socrates, the online social research database created by KLD Research & Analytics in Boston, an independent research firm serving investment management professionals, to put a numerical rating on companies' service to various stakeholders.
