Business Wire, Feb 19, 2007
MANCHESTER, England -- Transitive[R] Limited, the leading provider of software that enables transportability of software applications across multiple hardware platforms, announced today that it has been selected as a European Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) "Grand Prize Nominee." Transitive has progressed to the final shortlist of 20 companies competing for the European ICT Grand Prize, the most distinguished award for innovative products and services that represent the best of European innovation in ICT.
The Prize is awarded to companies for new and imaginative products and services based on information and communications technologies, or "digital technologies." This covers the converging fields of computer, media and communications industries - considered to be among the driving forces in modern economies. The Prize is supported by the European Commission as part of its efforts to promote Europe's ICT industry and boost growth.
"This second-round nomination clearly recognises Transitive's strengths in innovation and in market potential," said Alasdair Rawsthorne, founder and CTO of Transitive. "We are delighted that the European academies of Engineering have shown this appreciation of our superb engineering team and their ability to deliver our hardware virtualization products to a global customer base of more than 5 million users."
This year, the European ICT organization received its highest-ever number of submissions -- 450 applications from 30 countries. On January 29, 2007 the panel of 16 judges initially selected 70 companies (including Transitive) as "Prize Nominees" for this prestigious award, to be awarded in March. From this group of 20 "Grand Prize Nominees" (including Transitive) announced today, 3 "Grand Prize Winners" will be announced at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany on March 16, 2007.
