IDM Launches PURLs With Direct Marketing Promotions for U.S. Auto Dealers

Intelligent Direct Marketing, Inc.[TM] (IDM), a major national direct marketing company, has launched a new service called "PURLs", combining the power of the internet with direct marketing mail campaigns.
PURLs, which stands for "personal URLs" gives the consumer an alternate response method. Now, along with calling or visiting the retailer, respondents can visit their own personalized, VIP website designed just for them.
With PURLs, IDM "builds" individual websites based on the client's specifications. What was once a standard direct mail piece now becomes a personal invitation for the consumer to visit their own website. For example, Jane Smith's mail piece would have her website up in lights enticing her to visit www.JaneSmith.CmiTestMarket.com. Once at the site, Jane is welcomed and introduced to service, products & special on-line offers. She would also be prompted to take a short on-line survey which would provide feedback to the advertiser as to her intentions about making a purchase or participating in an event. The retailer is immediately provided with Jane's response and contact information capturing valuable data that would be impossible to collect if Jane chose not to visit the location.

Data shows that 33% of direct mail recipients prefer to respond online. With 82% of vehicle purchases today originating on-line, IDM will use the PURL's technology for its automotive marketing campaigns. This will allow potential car buyers the opportunity to interact with the dealership before actually visiting the car lot.
