Business Wire, Feb 20, 2007
Pillar Data Systems and Oracle Aid Customers to Simplify Storage Management in Mixed Networking Environments through Pillar Data Systems Storage Manager plug-in for Oracle[R] Enterprise Manager 10g
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Pillar Data Systems, a leading provider of enterprise network storage systems and member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, today announced that the company has joined the Oracle Enterprise Manager Partner initiative. As part of the collaboration, generally available today is a management plug-in for Oracle[R] Enterprise Manager 10g, enabling lower cost of storage management across database infrastructures. The Pillar Data Systems Storage Manager plug-in extends Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g to enable system monitoring of one or more instances of the Pillar Axiom[TM] system.
Pillar and Oracle share the vision of reducing complexity in running distributed IT environments to help provide a higher return on investment (ROI) and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Pillar's development of a plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g is an example of its work with Oracle to enable joint customers to ease the management of Pillar and Oracle environments. Specifically, Pillar's plug-in allows administrators to monitor one or more instances of the Pillar Axiom 500 system for storage management from within Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g's Web-based console.
Oracle provides a foundation for grid computing with Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g. When combined with Pillar's flexible storage architecture, users can add storage incrementally, when needed, further proving why Pillar's technology is ideally suited for Oracle Databases deployed in enterprise grid environments.
"Pillar is proud to be a part of the Oracle Enterprise Manager Partner initiative," said Mike Workman, CEO and President, Pillar Data Systems. "Working with Oracle allows Pillar customers to take advantage of a robust solution that gives our joint customers higher performance, more power with less complexity, and reduced TCO."
