F5's Application Security Manager Meets ICSA Labs' Web Application Firewall Version 2.0.1 Certification Standards; Independent Certification Reaffirms F5's Commitment to Quality and Excellence
SEATTLE -- F5 Networks, Inc. (http://www.f5.com) (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that ICSA Labs, an independent division of global information security specialist Cybertrust, has certified F5's BIG-IP[R] Application Security Manager (ASM).
"F5 continues to be one of the leaders in application layer security, which is a critical component in the successful delivery of applications," said George Japak, Vice President of ICSA Labs. "ICSA Labs employs a mix of criteria and methodologies to ensure that solutions like F5's BIG-IP Application Security Manager assist in meeting its customers' key requirements."
ICSA Labs' certification programs are designed to help customers reduce the risk of deploying new products and technologies. ICSA Labs' certifications can help with buying criteria and technical evaluation for end users.
"Many products claim to have Web application firewall capabilities, but only a few have been able to meet ICSA Labs' rigorous criteria," said Jason Needham, Director of Product Management at F5. "Validation by ICSA Labs means our customers can be confident that F5's BIG-IP ASM will protect Web applications as advertised and won't introduce new vulnerabilities to their network."
To remain consistently results oriented, certification criterion is based on resistance to threats, risks, and successful outcome. More specifically, ICSA Labs awards certification based on:
* Documentation - Thoroughness of documentation.
* Administration - Is there a secure way to administer the product?
* Vulnerability testing - Is the product clean from network vulnerabilities and secure from exploits?
* Persistence - Is the product's configuration and data safe if the system crashes or requires restarting?
* Functional security - Does the product function correctly as intended?
* Logging - Does the product supply the necessary logging for auditing requirements?
ICSA Labs will further back this certification by continuing to evaluate F5's ASM to ensure its effectiveness against current and emerging security threats.
