Business Wire, Feb 22, 2007
PHOENIX -- Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), will share its power expertise at next week's Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition by offering a technical seminar on power design. Avnet executives will also speak about the topics of lean supply chains and the implications environmental law has on the electronics community.
The Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) is the premier power electronics event for individuals with all levels of experience and technical backgrounds. The APEC program covers a broad range of topics relating to the design, manufacturing, marketing and use of power electronics equipment. It includes education seminars, referred papers and presentations made by more than 125 companies. The event takes place at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif., Feb. 25-Mar. 1.
Avnet's Pat Hunter, power technology specialist; and Field Applications Engineers (FAEs) Chris Cooper and Daniel Godfrey will present a professional education seminar on Sunday, Feb. 25. Their presentation, "Power Design for Digital Designers," is based on a paper authored by the group and provides a comprehensive introduction to power supply design for digital design engineers faced with powering modern digital integrated circuits such as FPGAs, DSPs and microprocessors. It focuses on the practical design techniques of digital power design.
On Monday, Ed Smith, senior vice president of sales, will present, "Enabling Lean Supply Chains," during the IPC EMS management meeting. Smith's presentation will touch on the goals of lean supply chain, the challenges facing electronics manufacturing and how Avnet's Supply Chain Services Group is integrating processes to minimize waste.
APEC will also offer a series of special subject matter presentations focusing on green systems on Thursday, Mar. 1. These presentations will provide information relating to energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmental capability for OEMs and their suppliers. Glenn Bassett, vice president of strategic business development, will discuss the impact environmental law is having on the industry during his presentation, "Environmental Law Impact on Design and Supply Chains."
"The evolution of power-related technology has broad-reaching implications for the entire electronics supply chain, and Avnet has resources that help from the design phase through production," said Ed Smith. "Our customers often have aggressive time-to-market milestones to overcome and our power specialists work to create power solutions that address customer-specific design challenges and constraints."
