Workday Reaches 10th Customer Milestone
Early Customers Exemplify Strong Support for On-Demand Solutions Among High-Growth and Enterprise Businesses
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Workday[TM], Inc., the first in a new generation of on-demand ERP solutions, today announced that it has added eight new customers since the company's launch on November 6, 2006, bringing the total number of customers to 10. New customers include Covad Communications (AMEX:DVW), Data Domain, Dudum Sports and Entertainment, McKee Foods, MiPro Consulting, PolyServe, RightNow Technologies (Nasdaq:RNOW) and Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM).
"This new group of customers is right in our current sweet spot," said Dave Duffield, CEO and co-founder, Workday. "They are high-growth and established companies with a commitment to innovation, and they support the on-demand model. We are pleased to say that, less than three months after our launch, our sales are ahead of target and implementations are going quickly and smoothly."
Workday's newest customers represent a range of industries, sizes and requirements, from smaller companies like Data Domain, which is implementing Workday to replace a paper-based, manual system supporting its approximately 220 employees, to larger corporations such as Covad Communications, which is implementing Workday as part of a larger series of organizational transformation initiatives for its 1,000-employee organization.
"We are very excited to be at the forefront of this next generation of enterprise ERP," said Deborah M. Perry, Senior Vice President, Organizational Transformation, Covad Communications. "As part of a corporate effort to streamline our HR processes and provide more visibility for our business people, we wanted a partner that we could trust, learn from and grow with. From a solutions perspective, we chose Workday for its intuitiveness, workflow functionality and reporting capabilities, but the real difference was that Workday really understands and aligns with our culture, strategy and values."
The addition of McKee Foods, a nearly 7,000-employee food manufacturing company best known for its line of Little Debbie([R]) snack cakes, provides additional validation that the on-demand model is a viable business strategy for larger sized enterprises.
"As a company with a commitment to continued innovation, we have been looking closely at our HCM strategy for some time now," said Eva Lynne Disbro, Vice President, Human Resources of McKee Foods. "Specifically, we were interested in ways to improve our practices and technology to maintain our leadership position within the food industry. We chose Workday because we are impressed with their solution and feel that their management, product vision and business philosophy align well with ours."
