nCircle Announces nTellect for McAfee IntruShield to Identify and Prioritize Network Attacks
Business Wire, Feb 5, 2007
New Version Integrates With McAfee IntruShield IPS to Reduce False Positives and Identify Real Threats to Enterprise Networks
SAN FRANCISCO -- nCircle, the leading provider of agentless security risk and compliance management solutions, today announced the release of nTellect for McAfee IntruShield, a new version of the innovative solution that leverages the endpoint intelligence collected by the nCircle IP360 vulnerability and risk management system to greatly improve the accuracy and effectiveness of McAfee IntruShield IPS.
"We are pleased to support nCircle's integration with McAfee IntruShield," said Mihir Mohanty, Group Product Manager at McAfee. "The integration of comprehensive network visibility from nCircle and intrusion prevention from McAfee provides our joint customers with target-aware intrusion detection and prevention, improving security and reducing manual efforts."
nCircle nTellect is an add-on to the award-winning nCircle IP360 vulnerability and risk management system, which discovers all IP-enabled devices on customers' global networks and their associated operating systems, applications, vulnerabilities, and configurations. nTellect enables the correlation of the actionable intelligence from IP360 with McAfee IntruShield IPS alerts, providing endpoint context to each attack. When an attack occurs, the endpoint intelligence provided by nTellect enables IntruShield to prioritize events for administrator follow-up. For example, a Windows-specific attack against a Solaris system or a system that was not vulnerable to that particular attack would not be a high priority since it is unlikely to be successful. Providing endpoint context to IPS events enables the identification of real threats against vulnerable targets, enabling IT security teams to focus on high priority network attacks.
"We're pleased to deliver this integration with McAfee Intrushield to both McAfee and nCircle customers," said Stefan Petry, vice president of product management for nCircle. "This integration between two market-leading solutions can dramatically reduce the workload of security teams in resolving IPS alerts."
nTellect deploys quickly and easily, and is designed to connect out-of-the-box with McAfee IntruShield. No system architecture modifications are required, and results are managed through the IntruShield console, eliminating the need for additional training.
