International EyeCare Laser Center Acquires Third ALLEGRETTO WAVE System from WaveLight

Business Wire, Feb 6, 2007

Next Generation EYE-Q System Delivers Fastest LASIK Treatments in the Country

HOUSTON -- International EyeCare Laser Center announced today that it has installed its third ALLEGRETTO WAVE system at its Houston location. The ALLEGRETTO WAVE([R]) Eye-Q, sold by WaveLight, Inc. (FWB:WLT), is the newest FDA-approved LASIK system in the United States. It delivers the fastest and most precise laser vision correction treatments available, featuring advanced Wavefront Optimized[TM] technology.

"As one of the earliest ALLEGRETTO WAVE centers in the country, we have watched this platform deliver the most predictable, high-quality LASIK treatments for thousands of patients throughout the past seven years," said Charles Moore, M.D., FACS, Founder and Medical Director at International EyeCare Laser Center. "Now with the next generation Eye-Q laser, we can treat patients in half the time and more comfortably while maintaining the accuracy and safety that our patients have come to expect from International EyeCare Laser Center."

The Eye-Q system, manufactured by WaveLight AG, corrects one diopter of nearsightedness or farsightedness in just two seconds. Therefore, the average treatment time to complete the LASIK procedure is typically between just eight and ten seconds. Half the treatment time means decreased anxiety for the patient and less recovery time.

This next generation system features WaveLight's proprietary PerfectPulse Technology(TM) to ensure maximum safety at high speeds. PerfectPulse Technology was specifically developed to monitor and control each laser pulse that is delivered to the eye during the LASIK procedure. Another component of this technology is a high speed, active eye-tracking device which monitors eye movement 400 times per second and adjusts the laser beam accordingly in less than six milliseconds.

The Eye-Q also features WaveLight's proprietary Wavefront Optimized[TM] technology, which has been shown to preserve the natural shape of the eye and prevent the induction of optical errors that could lead to night vision problems or loss of contrast sensitivity (the ability to see the images crisply).

"Dr. Charles Moore is one of the most experienced ALLEGRETTO WAVE surgeons in the country and is duly recognized as a key educator and expert in photo-refractive surgery," said Wolfgang Tolle, CEO of WaveLight, Inc. "As the first US recipient of WaveLight's Global Ambassador award for his instrumental role in our FDA clinical trials, we are privileged to bring the Eye-Q to his successful practice."
