Business Wire, Feb 7, 2007

Multiple Attachmate Products Take Advantage of Enhanced Security Features in Windows Vista

SAN FRANCISCO -- At the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Attachmate Corporation today reaffirmed its commitment to the Microsoft SecureIT Alliance and detailed its continued efforts to provide Microsoft customers worldwide, including those migrating to the new Windows Vista platform, with secure access to critical mainframe and IT systems. In addition to Reflection([R]) 2007, the company's terminal emulation solution built for Windows Vista, multiple Attachmate products take advantage of enhanced security features in Windows Vista to provide secure access to critical mainframe assets and to help protect customers' Windows-based systems.

As a member of the Microsoft SecureIT Alliance, a community of security providers working together to deliver additional integrated security solutions for the Microsoft platform, Attachmate has optimized multiple product lines to take advantage of the enhanced security features available with Windows Vista, including EXTRA!([R]), NetIQ([R]) IntelliPolicy([R]), NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager, NetIQ Security Manager, Reflection 2007, Reflection for Secure IT and WinINSTALL([R]).

"Early on, Attachmate recognized the importance of ensuring that all mission-critical systems are secured, including mainframes and host systems, where a majority of corporate data resides," said Gerry Albert, director of the SecureIT Alliance for the Strategic Relations Group with Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased that Attachmate has invested in developing products that take advantage of key security features in Windows Vista and, as a result, helped our mutual customers improve the security of their IT environments."

"Attachmate is committed to providing customers with comprehensive security tools to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of corporate data, while increasing business information sharing across the enterprise," said Eric Varness, vice president of marketing at Attachmate. "Attachmate's collaboration with the Microsoft SecureIT Alliance enables us to work closely with Microsoft to ensure our products allow common customers to realize the full benefits of the enhanced security features of Windows Vista."

Reflection 2007, Attachmate's next-generation terminal emulation solution, is being built specifically to take advantage of security and productivity enhancements in Windows Vista. Attachmate worked closely with Microsoft throughout the development process for Reflection 2007, which will provide support for existing and emerging technologies, including Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, Instant Search, LDAP Directory Services (including Microsoft Active Directory), Microsoft Group Policy, IPv6, Windows Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame environments, and Public Key Infrastructures (PKI).

Available in Spring 2007, Reflection 2007 will provide unparalleled security features and functionality to help customers safeguard private data, shore up network defenses and meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, including cryptographic modules built to meet Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 and Department of Defense (DoD) Class 3 PKI Public Key-Enabled (PKE) application requirements, as well as support for SSL/TLS, SSH, Kerberos and SOCKS security protocols. Reflection 2007 also leverages Attachmate's patent-pending secure token authentication technology found in the Reflection for the Web Security Proxy, which enables customers to save valuable host cycles by offloading SSL/TLS processing from the host.

"Attachmate's continued investment in its host access products is proof to me that it cares about my business and my company's success," said Axel Junghans, IT director at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. "Knowing that Attachmate([R]) Reflection 2007 is built for Windows Vista assures me that I'll be able to take advantage of the security advancements and productivity gains found in the Windows Vista environment."

NetIQ Corporation, a business unit of Attachmate, offers the industry's most comprehensive and integrated security management solutions, spanning log management, incident and problem management, and configuration and vulnerability management, allowing for real-time monitoring and auditing of Windows-based IT environments. With real-time intrusion detection and protection capabilities, NetIQ Security Manager is a unique product that encapsulates security information management and correlation, incident analysis and response, log management and archival, advanced trending and forensics tools, and comprehensive security reporting within a single solution. NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager measures and enforces compliance to configuration baselines in accordance with corporate policies, helping companies to reduce vulnerabilities, manage risk and remediate exposures. NetIQ IntelliPolicy provides administrators new and extended security and configuration policy settings, as well as the ability to selectively apply policies across desktop and server assets for a simplified and cost-effective alternative to desktop lockdown and configuration management.
