New England Media Group Appoints Chris Pircio as Chief Financial Officer

BOSTON -- The New England Media Group today announced the appointment of Christopher Pircio as its chief financial officer, effective immediately. Mr. Pircio is currently the executive director of financial planning and analysis for the New England Media Group, which includes The Boston Globe, Boston.com, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and Globe Direct.
Mr. Pircio will report to Steve Ainsley, publisher of The Boston Globe. "Chris brings a wealth of experience to the job and is already extremely knowledgeable about the financial operations of the Globe and our other properties," stated Ainsley, "He'll hit the ground running, and bring energetic leadership to this critical area of our business."
The CFO position has been open since January, when former CFO George Barrios was promoted to treasurer of The New York Times Company. Mr. Pircio will oversee all of the finance functions of the New England Media Group including accounting, internal auditing, financial planning and analysis, purchasing and payroll.
Mr. Pircio, who is 37 years old, joined The New England Media Group in 2000 as an accounting manager. Previously, he worked for eight years in public accounting at Landa & Altsher, PC, focusing on audit and management advisory services. He received a B.S. in Business from the University of Massachusetts in 1990. Born in Braintree, Mr Pircio now lives in Easton and has two children.
