Calix Appoints Technology Industry Veteran Don Listwin to Board of Directors
Business Wire, Jan 10, 2007
PETALUMA, Calif. -- Calix, the largest telecom solution supplier focused solely on access, today announced the addition of Don Listwin to the company's board of directors. A 25-year industry veteran, Listwin held positions of increasing responsibility during a ten-year period at Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) that saw revenue grow from $69 million to $19 billion and culminated in his being named the #2 executive at Cisco. In his last role at Cisco, Listwin was responsible for the service provider business, which he grew to an annualized run rate of over $10 billion. Listwin was also president and CEO at Openwave (NASDAQ:OPWV), a provider of software solutions for the communications and media industries.
"Don brings a wide range of experience to the Calix board," stated Calix president and CEO Carl Russo. "His industry track record and business acumen demonstrated in running rapidly growing technology companies will be extremely valuable as Calix continues to scale."
According to Listwin, "Calix represents a rare opportunity in the technology space: large and financially stable yet still growing at a fast pace. I am especially impressed that it has been able to carve out leadership positions in key North American broadband markets. I look forward to joining the board and helping take the company to the next level.
Listwin is founder and chairman of Canary Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted exclusively to early detection of cancer. Most recently, Listwin was president and CEO of Openwave from 2000 to 2004 and held senior executive positions at Cisco Systems between 1990 and 2000. Listwin also serves on the board of directors at Sana Security, Genologics, and Stratos Bioscience. He has previously served on the boards of Openwave, JDS Uniphase, Redback Networks, TIBCO Software, E-Tek, the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), and NetAid. Listwin is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle Washington. A native of Canada, Listwin holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and an honorary doctorate of law from the University of Saskatchewan.
