DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- Diversified automotive company JM Family Enterprises, Inc. (JM Family) has ranked No. 41 on FORTUNE magazine's 2007 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For. JM Family is the highest-ranked company headquartered in Florida and the leading automotive company on the list. This is the ninth consecutive year the family-owned business has made the list. "At JM Family, we believe our associates are our most important asset - they are what give us our competitive edge. The unique culture that makes this such a special place to work is embodied by our associates."

Since JM Family's inception in 1968 it has been steadfast in maintaining a world-class work/life environment that offers competitive salaries and outstanding benefits for associates and their families. How the 100 Best are Picked
To choose the 100 Best Companies to Work for, FORTUNE relies on two things: an evaluation of the policies and culture of each company and the opinions of the company's own employees. The latter is given more weight: two-thirds of the total score comes from employee responses to a 57-question survey created by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTWI) in San Francisco. The survey goes to a minimum of 400 randomly selected employees from each company and asks about things such as attitudes toward management, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The remaining third of the score comes from an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, pay and benefits programs, and the like. Companies are scored in four areas: credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities and benefits), fairness (compensation, diversity), and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy, celebrations). About 1,500 companies contacted the GPTWI or were recruited to participate; of them, 446 finished the exhaustive survey process. Any company that is at least seven years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible.
