Wipro Offers ISDB-T Based Digital TV Solution with Toshiba

LAS VEGAS -- Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT), today announced the availability of its Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial (ISDB-T) Digital Television (DTV) solution on Toshiba's Digital TV decoder "TC90400XBG/FG" platform. This will enable Digital TV manufacturers to reduce the development time for Set-Top Box and Integrated Digital Television products.

Wipro offers ARIB standards compliant, ISDB-T middleware stack to its customers to address the growing demand for feature rich Digital TVs. Siby Abraham, Vice President, Semiconductors & Consumer Electronics Group at Wipro Technologies, says, "As part of our ongoing strategic initiative to develop reusable intellectual properties in various technologies, we have introduced a product-ready ISDB-T solution on the TC90400XBG/FG platform with support from Toshiba. Wipro is demonstrating its ISDB-T solution at its booth in this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at Las Vegas between Jan 8 and Jan 11.

Wipro's Consumer Electronics Group has been working with leading Semiconductor, Service Provider and Consumer Product companies, providing them with wide ranging solutions and services at various touch points along the Digital Multimedia chain. Through the years the CE group has been working on providing high end solutions for products like Set-Top Boxes, Digital TVs, High Definition TVs (HDTV), Portable Media Players, Digital Cameras, and DVD Players.

ISDB is the digital television and digital audio broadcasting format for Japan and is maintained by Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), the standardization organization in Japan. The ISDB standard is likely to be used in geographies across the World including Japan and Brazil.

Toshiba's Digital TV decoder "TC90400XBG/FG" offers powerful and highly integrated single chip solutions for Set Top Boxes, Integrated Digital TVs, and combo systems with hard disks and DVDs.
