Wave 4, Stage 2 RFPF Deadline Information

Business Wire, Jan 19, 2007

WASHINGTON -- The 800 MHz Transition Administrator, LLC (TA), announces a modification to the deadline for Request for Planning Funding (RFPF) submissions by Wave 4, Stage 2 (NPSPAC) licensees. Within Wave 4, Stage 2, there are a number of licensees with locations in the international border areas defined by the FCC, which are subject to special frequency plans negotiated by the United States with the Governments of Mexico and Canada. The U.S. State Department has been involved in direct discussions with the Governments of Mexico and Canada.

Any Wave 4, Stage 2 licensee receiving a Frequency Proposal Report (FPR) on or after December 18, 2006 will have 45 calendar days from the date of the earliest FPR cover letter received to submit an RFPF. The new RFPF deadline will be noted in the FPR cover letter. An FPR contains proposed replacement frequencies for those call signs that must change operating frequencies and is sent out by the TA as part of reconfiguration.

Call signs with any locations within the FCC-defined international border areas will not be receiving FPRs until further notice. Locations within 110 km (68.4 miles) of the U.S./Mexico border or within 140 km (87 miles) of the U.S./Canada border are within the FCC-defined border area. In addition, call signs with locations within 113 km (70 miles) of the FCC-defined border areas are considered to be affected by the border area frequency plans and are not likely to receive FPRs from the TA - especially if they are very close to the border area.

If you would like to clarify whether or not this modification applies to your organization, or whether an FPR has been mailed for one of your Wave 4, Stage 2 call signs, contact the TA via email at comments@800TA.org or by at phone 1-888-800-8220. Additional guidance regarding the RFPF process, including the current RFPF form and instructions, is available on the TA's website at http://www.800TA.org/content/documents/rfpf_forms.asp.> About the 800 MHz Transition Administrator, LLC
